Scams

PLEASE DO NOT FALL VICTIM TO THE SCUM

Read this and LEARN, If it sounds too good it is, NEVER send bank details, or cash, and DO NOT view, or sell a bike alone.

This heart breaking, but sadly all too true tale should be commited to memory.

Vangelis's Story

Here’s a story that should serve as a warning to any fool out there such as my self…
Remember I was telling about this tremendous bargain I secured for a 535 DX?
Well it turned out to be a hoax that left me £1150 worse off and with a very bitter taste of disappointment.
I made this purchase through eBay, and because of immense anticipation fuelled by impulse,
I ignored all the signs that pointed towards a rather cleverly crafted fraud.
First of all the price was too good… but at the same time when I emailed this guy and asked for more photos,
he replied that he couldn’t send me any.
Then was the payment method.
He insisted he got paid via Money Gram… I should have asked why???
EBay has many payment options available to its members and it insists in its advice that members should avoid paying via Money Gram,
or Western Union as they don’t know the recipient.
The angle you see was, that this guy claims to have put £5000 as a security deposit to an eBay account in order to safeguard the rights of the buyer
What a load of bullshit!!!!
EBay doesn’t offer this service.
And finally the biggest mistake of the all. When he sent me the fake invoice, I didn’t check to verify that the address was correct.
It doesn’t even exist… I feel like such an idiot!!!
I’ve wasted my year long savings, I’m without bike and here goes another summer without riding out.
No, I blame myself mind you… It serves me bloody right!!!
I wanted that bike so much that almost subconsciously didn’t stop to think for one minute and take stock of all the signs that were there
I’m so annoyed and angry with my self.
Oh well, some of us have to learn the hard way.
At least I hope the weather gets better for you guys and enjoy the ride outs this summer.
For me, I hope that somehow I’ll move forwards from this experience a wiser man though poorer,
and maybe in time the opportunity and funds will present themselves once more for me to get my dream bike.
Best Regards Vangelis
