The Lost Riders @ The April Bike Show
Once again the weather was a big deciding factor here. Shall we go? Will it rain? How cold will it be?
Well it was not that cold, just bloody cold, the wind was so cold, it went right through you.
And being Lincolnshire, there is absolutely nothing to slow it down.
In the end a smaller than we had hoped group set off to the show.
There was Steve Little, Les and Jan, Rod and Cath, and Jane and me.
More than enough to have fun.
On arrival at the venue, we soon realised that if there was a custom competition, we would have to win a prize,
Had a good shot at best attended club too.
It always seems a shame to me that when people go to the trouble of hosing these events,
folks just don't turn up.
In one of the biggest marquees I have been in, there were around 50 people,
and it was cold.
I think most of the people were band members, as there were 11 bands playing on the Saturday.
All the ones we saw were brilliant, with a fair mix of styles to suit everyone.
The Plough Inn served lovely hot meals, which we enjoyed, before back to the tent for a nice warming dance.
I met a guy named Sam, he had a VSOC badge on, when I asked him what Centre he was with,
Centre 9 he said, just never been to a meeting.
The bands played on well into the small hours, the headlining band Innofensive playing out,
and very good they are too, worth a look if you see them somewhere.
The rain had held off all day, so when it chucked it down at 3am, no-one cared.
Perhaps due to early season camping, we were unprepared for breakfast.
Bread but no toaster, cookers but no matches, useless we are.
Les found a lighter and we were off.
With Rod using a fork to do the toast, it was slow, finger singeing stuff,
then Rod forgot he had been using the fork and burnt his lip eating the last bit of bread.
No-one laughed, yea right, poor Rod was blowing on his lip while we all helped by falling about in stitches.
Caring lot us.
We packed up in the dry, and for the most part rode home in the dry too,
Got away with it again.
Les had a few problems with a misfire, and Big John drove all around Peterborough looking for us,
even when he phoned we had no idea where we were, so could not help.
It was a great night out, cold yes, but well worth the trip.
Jumpstart here we come.
