Radio Derby Money Mountain
Lovely day for a rideout, warm sunny, John arrives on his
new Royal Star, and off we go.
The further north we went, the darker the
skies became, stayed dry tho.
After a quick stop at Les and Janices we set
off to Clay Cross Power Sports, the start point for the Radio Derby money
mountain ride.
Time for coffee, this is the busiest I have seen the cafe,
lovely smells of bacon cobs, many smiling faces, this is the way to spend your
Sunday.
At 12pm on the dot, the police car drove out to stop the traffic,
and 100 plus bikes set off in convoy.
Although the weather had closed in a
little, the ride down to Derby was very smoothly done, a really nice trip
taking the best part of an hour.
There were a lot of folks waving to us all
along the route, makes trips like this that little bit more special to
me.
We all arrived safely in Derby, and got a nice hot drink, and chocolate
biscuits, and some raffle tickets.
Some even bought the 2008 Money Mountain
calendar, John didn't, much to the dismay of the lady sellers.
Shelagh was
lucky enough to have won a raffle prize, well done girl.
The money total
raised was £676, a good days work, and a fine ride out.
The charities
to benefit are:
Headway Derby,
Derby Kids' Camp,
Safe and Sound
Derby,
Belper & District Neighbourhood Watch Support Group,
Dove
Valley Community Project (Thistley Place Meadow Nature Reserve),
Derbyshire
St John Ambulance Cycle Responder Unit.
Rick very kindly offered some
refreshments back at his house.
So eight bikes duly set off back to Rick's a
really good reason to extend the day with friends>
His good lady Joyce
had spent many an hour making lovely cobs, pizza and drinks, and put together a
fantastic spread, we cannot thank you both enough.
Once again, we all had a
lovely day out, and a charity got some benefit as well, perfect.
