John & Rosie's Camping Weekend
Although in the midst of the longest wet period I can remember, we were
really looking forwards to this. If you have not been on a Lost Riders camping
weekend, shame on you.
These are really bonding parties, you make your own
entertainment, usually there is a BBQ, and you can have a really good chill for
the weekend.
We met at a familiar point for us now, the A52/A46 petrol
station. Chris and Wendy, Rod And Cathy, me and Jane, and off we set. After
half an hour the clouds started to break, and we arrived in blue skies and
soaring temperature.
Met a new member there, Hello Colin, and lots of old
friends. Our good friend Sue came up from Essex with her fella, Paul, that was
a really nice suprise, hugs and hand shakes all round.
Polly arrived, and I
had a good look at the new paint job, very nice job too.
EJ had a good ride
out, not sure how much she raised, got a bit damp once or twice, but hey that's
half the fun.
Tents up, and down to the serious business of emptying all of
the bottles and cans, first tho, pogo stick. Not for me, too much effort I am
afraid, but the youngsters were showing us how to do it, Jane had a real go,
her best was one, I think, John was very good too.
Sure enough it rained,
but we had the large workshop to retire to, so no real disruption to the
evening.
There were around 30 of us for the night, what a great crowd, much
cooking, drinking, laughing, and the odd game thrown in, plenty of good music,
a real fun time.
Not sure what time we retired to the tents, can't even
remember if it was raining, all I know is everyone had fun.
Sunday morning,
and it was breakfast on the lawn, a good recharge before the pack up.
The
rain held off until it was time to go, then dumped on us for about 50 miles, we
didn't care, too knackered to care anyway.
Thanks to John & Rosie, what
fabulous hosts. The work that you did so we could have a camping weekend must
have run into days.
Hope it was worth it to you, it certainly was to us.
Yes we were the lucky ones, we went.
Terry (and all the others)
