Ride Out To Admiral Benbow Beach Bar
On Sunday we joined the Lincolnshire Area for their ride
out to Admiral Benbow Beach Bar, Chapel St Leonards.
When we got to John and
Barb's, Barb was still suffering from a back problem and could not join us,
sadly she missed out on a great day out.
Following John's sat nav, we
had a lovely trip through Lincolnshire in the sun, until we were on the wrong
side of the road in a contra-flow,
and needed to turn left.
After
following some very small dirt covered roads, through some lovely litttle
groups of houses,
I hesitate to calll them villages, because I never saw a
pub,
we made it back on track towards Conningsby.
We arrived at 12pm to
find we were almost the first to arrive, only our new friend Axle had beat us
to it.
Trev, Rachel, Alex, and Chris pulled in behind us, then Geggsy and
Rod, a nice gathering.
The ride to the coast took us directly under one of
the biggest blackest clouds we have seen in ages,
and this year that takes
some beating.
Yet we arrived in very hot sunshine, and on very wet
roads.
The bar is well worth a visit, it must have been a very large toilet
block before the conversion.
Sitting inside it is like being below decks on
a wooden ship, really nicely done.
Sitting outside it was the
arachnaphobiacs nightmare, there were thousands of spiders,
all trying to
spin webs in our helmets, hair, across anything they could attach a web to.
We decided that inside was best, nothing to do with being afraid you
understand.
After a nice pint it was on up the coast for an ice
cream,
not fancying the ride across the sand to the van I walked.
And
guess what? Thousands more spiders,
we eat our ices, John told the seller
he must be on £100,000 a year charging that much,
and itched and
rubbed off the spiders for as long as we could.
Then we set off for home,
the others carried on to Mablethorpe, but it was 3-30pm and we had a two hour
ride home.
On the way home we had a 5 minute hail storm, so we put on the
waterproofs,
the sun immediately came out, and we baked all the way
home.
A day out 200 miles ridden, 5 mins of rain, a new friend(Axle), good
company, and ice cream.
Now that's bliss.
