Ride Out To Derbyshire 14th May
Derbyshire Ride Out Sunday 14th May.
The meeting place for the ride out was CMC at Chesterfield.
It is always
nice to arrive early to have a cup of coffee and wander round and peruse the
machines and goodies on offer and maybe dream!
17 of us assembled for the
ride into the peaks and it was nice to see Pete and Lee(new bike) had travelled
up to join us.
4 other non-VSOC riders who were at CMC also asked if they
could join us for part of the ride,
I can only think the word is getting
around about our great ride outs!
We set off for the peaks with the weather
a little damp, but spirits high only to run into some thick fog,
which
slowed us down a little as we made our way through Baslow, Calver, Stoney
Middleton and onto Peak Forest.
Where I had scheduled a stop for coffee etc
at the Wanted Inn, a lovely quaint pub where we are always welcome.
Setting
off again in the worsening fog we headed for Winnats Pass, which is on a clear
day, a fabulous sight, this day it was different, a BMW 3 series on full song
with no lights on looming out of the fog set the old ticker going a
bit!
Still on into Castleton, Hope and Hathersage and finally back via
narrow roads into Chesterfield,
and on to Malc and Liz's where they had laid
on a fabulous BBQ and buffet for us and lashings of hot drinks.
Which we all
enjoyed with much relish, you did us proud!
And thanks to Shelagh too for
helping.
Given the weather it turned out to be a great day, good company and
my bike didn't get very dirty either,
see you on the next one!
