Malc had pencilled in a ride out for Sunday 18th., destination unknown!
Which for Malc is not unusual , and usually produces a great ride nonetheless.
The weather prospects were not very good, so we thought we would wait til the morning to make a decision.
I had a few phone calls crying off, even though we were getting snow flurries at that point, I rang Malc.
Liz answered and said "Malc is walking around in his long johns and was not a pretty sight!" .
I didn't linger too long on that thought! And started to get ready.
We met at 10.15 and set off for the M1and junction 27 to meet up with any other hardy bikers.
On arriving at the layby at Heanor side we were greeted by Rick, the only other member there.
A bit windswept, but happy (he had got out of decorating !).
I then realised that the "Donnington Three" were together again to do battle against the elements,
"we camp in minus 5 conditions, we can do this".
We decided to ride to Claycross Powersports for coffee and bacon rolls, as by now it was blowing a gale and we ain't that mad!
We set off on our momentous ride , which took all of 30 minutes and arrived at Claycross.
Food ordered we sat and did what we do so very well, chatted!
We were joined by Tess and John and we now had a quorum for a rally committee meeting, so that's what we did!
The weather looked like closing in so we set off home saying our goodbyes,
the timing was just right as when Malc and I got home the snow came down a plenty.
Was it worth it? You bet!
We can't always guarantee good weather on the rides , but we can have a good time!
See you on the next one.
Ride safe,
Ken (Derbys Rep)
